  5. A fearless, globe-trotting, terrorist-battling secret agent has his life turned upside down when he discovers his wife might be having an affair with a used car salesman while terrorists smuggle nuclear war heads into the United States.
  6. This was a seriously great TV Show that was ripped from us just when everything the revelations were leading up to were about to be revealed; cancelled, without a thought for those who had followed this series from the start - sheer madness on the part of the producers. If you don't mind being somewhat disappointed with the ending, this is still worth watching.
  7. A suburban family that takes in a mysterious teen naive to the world around him. As Kyle begins to show signs of brilliance, solving the mystery of his origin and potential abilities becomes the family's mission.

    1917

This movie is well deserved of the praise it has received. The attention to detail for the sets is remarkable and definitely gives an air of menace that would most likely have been 100 times worse in those actual times. The acting was really on par with emotions of love, hate, fear all portrayed equally well. The whole atmospherics of the movie was outstanding and hats off for a job well done with director Sam Mendes. If you are looking for an all-out full on massive battle scenes movie, then don't expect this here. It's about a mission to save battalions of troops from being slaughtered and the bravery and hardships of the two young men sent to save the day. The movie creeps along at a menacing pace with lots of unexpected moments lifting the action a little higher but never really going full on. I was a little dubious when I first started watching the movie as to whether I was going to hit the stop and delete from my watch list, but I was mesmerised and drawn in to the entirety of the moment. I have no hesitation in giving this 5 stars and would recommend anyone, whether you like war movies or not, to watch this - it's more of an experience than a movie, so enjoy the bitterness of the time and the fleeting sweet moments in-between. Brilliant!

At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers.
  12. In the summer of 1941, the United States and Japan seem on the brink of war after constant embargos and failed diplomacy come to no end. "Tora! Tora! Tora!", named after the code words use by the lead Japanese pilot to indicate they had surprised the Americans, covers the days leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor, which plunged America into the Second World War.

    Glory

Unbelievable what those men went through during that war. Explicit in detail, moving and emotional at vary points during the movie. Matthew Broderick was compelling in his performance, even right down to the facial expressions and body language. The rest of the cast is made up of both well-known and not so well-known actors, but both were equally drenched into their roles and performed brilliantly. The settings were convincing, the effects pretty gory at times and the direction was tight. Overall this was a historic moment conveyed to the medium of celluloid and is worth watching by anyone who enjoys seeing history being recreated in such a way as to make you think twice of what people had to go through and endure in order to create harmony and remove division. Awesome movie that was a privileged to watch. Deserving of everyone's attention, so go watch it.
Just another madcap movie that reaches the depths of madness. Bob is a hunchback that has been living in the rafters of a University and only comes to light when he tries to save his belle when she appears to be in trouble. From that moment on the slapstick and foolishness takes off and never even attempts to land; it's mad, it's wacky and it's seriously silly but so much fun. Highlight for me was the eating of a whole chocolate cake, spurred on by a chanting crowd shouting 'more, more, more' - it was the look on Bob's face that just put the icing, literally, on the cake. If you enjoy mad and wacky slapstick you will just fall in love with this movie. It's not available on DVD (at least not in the UK, unless you are prepared to pay silly money) but it is running on Amazon Prime Video so if you're an Amazon Prime memnber you can watch it for free. The original title is Big Man On Campus, but when first released in the UK the title changed to 'The Hunchback Hairball of L.A.' but whatever title it goes under it's just well worth watching.
Blazing Saddles is one movie you will probably never see again on TV or at a Cinema; it is so politically incorrect in ways that would take too long to mention, but it is one hilariously funny movie that takes the mick out of everyone and every politically correct notion. Back in '74 there was little in the way of political correctness and people saw the funny side of life, rather than trying to bury feelings, emotions, opinions and literally anything to do with race or racism. It is what it is and doesn't even attempt to take itself seriously, just put away any rose tinted glasses and just enjoy the satire and humour for what it is. I could watch this movie over and over and still find things to laugh at that I may have missed, but the scene that will always remain a fond memory was when all the cowboys were sitting around the campfire at night eating loads of beans and burping and farting as those they were going oout of fashion - seriously funny. It you're easily offened or have little in the way of a sense of humour then this movie is definitely not for you, but if you can see the funny side of all things and don't take what you see seriously, then you will most like have a whale of a time. Enjoy!

  15. Strange, but decent movie with plenty of action and subterfuge to keep anyone on the edge of their seats.
  16. In the near future, Major is the first of her kind: a human saved from a terrible crash, then cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world's most dangerous criminals.

    Glory

This is an incredibly poignant movie showing the horrors of the American Civil War portrayed through the eyes and experiences of the first black infantry unit. Amazing attention to detail, incredible performances by an excellent cast and some quite moving and inspiring moments - well worth a watch by anyone who loves great stories depicted by a movie.

Robert Gould Shaw leads the US Civil War's first all-black volunteer company, fighting prejudices of both his own Union army and the Confederates.
  19. I've watch all of these, but whilst they are very well made, they're not really my kind of thing. I would say if you've never seen any of them, or their follow up Hobbit series, then give them a go as they may strike a chord with you.
  20. The acting in this series is a bit low par, but I do like it - waiting in anticipation for season three. It does get better as it moves along so bear with it if you decide to give it a go.
  21. Talon, the lone survivor of a race called the Blackbloods, sets off to the edge of civilisation to track her family's killers. On her journey she discovers she has supernatural powers which she must learn to harness in order to achieve her goals.
  22. I just watched this movie on Netflix last weekend. It was actually pretty decent but the plot had a ton of holes and some parts were just not believable (as in, "that could NEVER happen in real life!") But all in all, it was entertaining.
  23. Four African-American Vietnam veterans return to Vietnam. They are in search of the remains of their fallen squad leader and the promise of buried treasure. These heroes battle forces of humanity and nature while confronted by the lasting ravages of the immorality of the Vietnam War.
  24. Three years after the zombie virus has gutted the country, a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood.
  25. Aragorn is revealed as the heir to the ancient kings as he, Gandalf and the other members of the broken fellowship struggle to save Gondor from Sauron's forces. Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam take the ring closer to the heart of Mordor, the dark lord's realm.
  26. Frodo and Sam are trekking to Mordor to destroy the One Ring of Power while Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn search for the orc-captured Merry and Pippin. All along, nefarious wizard Saruman awaits the Fellowship members at the Orthanc Tower in Isengard.
